Doll Faces / Puppen Gesichter @ Galerie Perpetuel

A series of video sequences were shown on a large TV monitor. The sequences showed doll faces fused with human faces and expressions.

Through the superimposition of human and doll the sequences explore the relationship between the artificial and real, as well as the tension between self and other. The fusion, simultaneously being humorous and disturbing, points to the powerful influence of dolls and how the interactions with these objects shape attitudes and behaviors.
Video-stills were displayed on the walls framed by colored ovals. These playful and brightly colored shapes referenced a child's room. At the same time the ovals echo the shapes of pharmaceutical pills thereby commenting on cloning through social conditioning.

The video-stills were printed on mirror reflective foil. While viewing these prints, gallery visitors were thereby able to see their own reflections fused with the doll images.
